SMaRTCert™ — Specialized Maintenance and Reporting Technician Certification — is an industry-developed workforce certification and registered apprenticeship initiative focused on the non-electrical operations, maintenance, inspection, assessment, and reporting of renewable energy and advanced infrastructure assets.
Who we serve

Unlike electrical apprenticeship programs, SMaRTCert prepares technicians responsible for the physical maintenance, inspection, cleaning, documentation, reporting, customer communication, and preventive maintenance of solar PV systems, EVSE, energy storage support systems, and future smart infrastructure.
The program addresses the growing workforce shortage by creating entry-level career pathways into the clean energy industry — while giving employers access to trained, safety-focused technicians they can trust.
